When cooking with aluminum foil, do you cook with the shiny side up or the dull side up??!


Question: Took awhile before I found there was a proper side! But the experts say shiny side up. Thanks for deleting the first question, gave me time to find the answer! lol

makes no difference, typically I put the food on the dull side though

I always have the shiny side on the out side. Just because it looks nice & seems the proper thing to do. The food cooks the same regardless which side you use.

Either side, the food cooks the same ......

I use the non-stick foil which I think is about the best invention in the last ten years for kitchen products. We used it in a restaurant I worked in for baking nachos on a pizza pan and they slid right off for upto 50 nachos. You can let the cheese burn on the foil and it still falls right off.

You have to go shiny side out for it...

Always the shiny side up. It will help direct heat onto the food.
