Stirfry tips?!

Question: I'm making stir fry for my boyfriend tonight, and i'm not exactly the most experienced cook (but i'm not necessarily BAD at cooking.)

i'm not really going off a recipe, i'm just kind of going off memory of what i've seen done...

i bought two green bell peppers, a red onion, and a box of sliced mushrooms. i diced the peppers and i'm going to slice the onion later... i also bought a bag of rice and this little bottle by kikkoman called stir fry sauce "just pour and stir"... and vegetable oil (i'm too cheap to get olive oil... sorry =P)

is this enough to serve three people (we don't eat that much) if i stir fry all that stuff and serve it over rice? if not, i have ground chuck beef that i can stir fry as well

what order should i put in the ingredients? do you have any tips that will make my stir fry extraordinary? i aim to impress tonight, so your help is much appreciated!!!

I would first brown up some meat cut into thin strips, (not ground) then add the peppers, onions, drained and thawed mushrooms, if you have celery and carrots that will add great flavor. Do not over cook the mix after you add the veggies, You want them crisp. I would cook about 1 1/2 cups of cooked rice per person. The stirfry does look big at first but after the stuff is cooked it goes down about 1/3 way. Serve iced green tea and almond cookies for desert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Heat your oil in the pan first, then add some chopped garlic and ginger - toss in hot oil just until softened - about 1 minute, then add your peppers and onions. Stir fry those until softened and then add your mushrooms...stir about 1 minute and then add your sauce and maybe a bit of chicken or veggie broth to get a bit of liquid in - reduce the liquid down a bit and then toss with your cooked rice! wa-la!
I wouldn't add ground beef to this but chicken slices would be nice, along with slivers of carrots, broccoli pieces or asparagus chunks (add with ginger and garlic) or some snow peas, would be great (add with mushrooms).
I hope that helps!

well it seems like you have everything you need but i suggest that you put in the beef. personally i think chicken tastes better in stirfrys but just choose a meat that you know your bf likes. Its also great if you put peanuts and snow pea pods in stirfrys.
