What is the difference between the different olive oils?!

Question: ie
virgin
extra virgin
olive
pure olive

Answers: ie
virgin
extra virgin
olive
pure olive

# Extra-virgin olive oil comes from cold pressing of the olives, contains no more than 0.8% acidity, and is judged to have a superior taste. There can be no refined oil in extra-virgin olive oil.
# Virgin olive oil has an acidity less than 2%, and judged to have a good taste. There can be no refined oil in virgin olive oil.
# Pure olive oil. Oils labeled as Pure olive oil or Olive oil are usually a blend of refined olive oil and one of the above two categories of virgin olive oil.
# Olive oil is a blend of virgin oil and refined oil, containing no more than 1.5% acidity. It commonly lacks a strong flavor.

plain olive oil is thick with a very strong taste and a very dark yellow colour, virgin olive oil is lighter and used to cook in, extra virgin olive oil is a very pale yellow is used for salad dressings and light sauces.

It depends on the press of the "press" of the olive and how finely its pressed

Extra Virgin is for salads and eating. Virgin or regular olive oil is for cooking. I use extra virgin for both b/c I'd rather not have both bottles taking up space. The greener the color of the olive oil, the tastier it is.

Extra Virgin, is the first squeeze of an olive.
Virgin is the second squeeze of same olive.

this is not an answer, but i remember at work we had to try around 20 different types of olive oils and vinegars , not good when you haven't eaten anything before the tastings. lol
