Hey guys need help cookie emergency!?!
Answers: i need to make cookies for tomorrow i have brown sugar but no shortening can someone gimme a recipe for brown sugar ccokies without shortening fast!!!!!i need them by tomorrow morning so im gonna bake them now!thanx
Brown Sugar Cookies
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar, divided
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 cup finely ground pecans
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
PREPARATION:
Cream butter with 1/2 cup sugar and the dark brown sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl then stir into creamed mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes or untill easy to handel.
Roll into 1-inch balls and roll in remaining sugar; place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Flatten with the bottom of a flat-bottom glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until edges are slightly browned. Cool brown sugar cookies on a wire rack.
Makes about 5 dozen brown sugar cookies.
Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla or other flavoring
2 eggs
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
PREPARATION:
Cream butter with sugar; add beaten egg yolks, flour, baking powder, salt, milk, and stiffly beaten egg whites. Add enough more flour to make of consistency to roll. Cut off small pieces of the dough; roll on floured surface, sprinkle with granulated sugar, cut out with cookie cutter and bake on greased cookie sheets at 350° for about 10 minutes.
can you use butter?

just use butter or margarine. You may need to reduce the cooking time just a bit, as butter tends to cook differently than shortening.

I hope it helps.. as ive never tried to make any baked good without some sort of shortening, like crisco, oil, butter etc..

well ive made snickerdoodles like this.. 1c butter 1-1/2c sugar or brown suger either one.2 egg 2 tsp vanilla 2-3/4 c flour 2 tsp cream of tarta 1 tsp baking soda 1/4 tsp salt. cream first five ingredients:) blend dry and slowly mix, roll into balls and place on ungreased sheet cook about 8 minutes 375-400 degrees... rool in cinnamon sugar mix.. good luck:) happy easter!

INGREDIENTS
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 pinch salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 tablespoon heavy whipping cream
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
DIRECTIONS
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar. Beat in egg, heavy cream, and vanilla.
Slowly add in flour, baking powder and salt. Mix until well blended. If dough seems too dry, add in water, 1/2 teaspoon at a time.
Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Roll out dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 1/8 of an inch. Cut with cookie cutters and place 1 1/2 inches apart on cookie sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until lightly colored

1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups toffee baking bits
1/3 cup chopped pecans
DIRECTIONS
Combine and sift flour, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, cream butter or margarine. Add sugar, egg, and vanilla; mix until smooth and creamy.
Stir in dry ingredients; blend in toffee bits and pecans.
Drop tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) until done, 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from baking sheets and cool.
