Answers: I usually use apples, walnuts, celery and grapes in the mayo-lemon-juice dressing....and I've had it somewhere they used pineapples...but I'm not aware which one is the authentic recipe.

what do you usually use?

Apples, celery, raisins & walnuts, mayo with a little sugar. Sometimes I use Cool Whip instead of the mayo but the actual old recipe I have uses mayo with sugar.

apples, bananas, walnuts, canned fruit cocktail(drained), in a whipped cream dressing

I've never heard of pineapple in Waldorf Salad! ... sometimes, at Thanksgiving, I'll add some fresh cranberry relish to the dressing and put frosted grapes around the bowl... but otherwise, I use just what you do

Celery, Apples, Raisins or Craisins, any nut I have on hand and mayo. I think the original Waldorf salad was made at the Waldorf Astoria in NY with Celery, Apples, raisins and mayo, they started adding nuts to it later.
