I'm baking a whole chicken?!
Answers: at 300 degrees F (5lb) how long should it take? (unstuffed)
I'll used to roast whole chicken (unstuffed) at 375F for about 40minutes/per pound.
If you are cook at 300F it's will take you more times too cooks the chicken.
I will say.You Have to cook it 1 hour/per pound.
So.. Bake Whole Chicken (unstuffed) at 300F (5lb)= 5 hours
*** Cover it with foil at the 1st 4 hours, and uncover for the rest hours to brown it.
Crank that up to 325, about 20 min per pound. It should only take about 2 hrs. or less to cook.
Have you asked the chicken if it wants to be baked?
In order to be cooked safely you need to up the temp to 350. Then allow 15-20 mins per pound. Prob will take around 2hours
check allrecipes.com and places like that - but, GET a MEAT THERMOMETER and cook until 165 degrees when inserted in the breast area of the bird. Remember to always preheat oven.
Personally, cook at 350 degrees for 30 minutes per pound.
USE THAT MEAT THERMOMETER EVEN WHEN YOU THINK YOU ALREADY KNOW!
Id put it on 350 and cook it for an hour to an hour and a half....depending on the size of the chicken.*
I would have the oven at 350 and use a meat thermometer. I would figure about 20 minutes per pound as an estimate but I always go by the temperature not the time. I roast whole chickens on a rack so that the chicken is above the bottom of the pan. I also would put about 1/2 cup of wine or other liquid in the bottom of the pan. It steams the chicken as the chicken roasts and the wine evaporates making the meat very moist.
I cook mine at 400 and it should take you about 1.25 hrs
It's done when the juices run clear and you have an internal temp of 165 as measured in the deepest part of the thigh -not the breast
