Do soy crumbles taste just as good as ground beef in a casserole?!
Answers: and do most supermarkets have them?
It does NOT taste as good... but if you are expecting that it will be different, go ahead and use it. I am all for trying things out!
I don't think they would, and I haven't seen them at the supermarket here.
No, and you have to go to a vegan freindly store for that. Meat is good, we are omnivores for a reason.. Eat meat... mmmmm so gooooooood... tasty little cows mmmmmm, chickens,, fish... quail... buffalo.. mmmmm meat
NO! But if you like the texture go ahead and use them. I prefer to use real food in ways that accentuate its natural qualities rathe than try to mimic something else.
Maybe its time for you to buy a few ethnic cookbooks and try to make those recipes designed from the start to not require meats.
I once lived with a vegetarian and found that cooking Indian or Mexican foods that don't depend on meat was a lot better tasting than to add those fake meats to my dishes...I had to put my foot down when he put some of that stuff in a perfectly good marinara sauce that with cheese (& veggies in it) was a balanced and tasty meal. With the fake meat in it it had a dog-food quality. I prefer to add good garbanzos anyday...or a portabello steak sandwich...etc
