I am followin a recipe that has mentioned *Cups* and *TB*. Please can someone tell me what this means? Thanks?!

Question: Measurements could vary in its exact amounts depending on what kind of recipe you're using eg. American, British, Australian, Canadian. For beginner cooks, the different metric & Imperial measurements are also confusing. Some recipes nicely provide the conversions but sometimes you have to work it out yourself.

1 cup could range from 200ml to 250ml.
1 tablespoon (TB or tbsp or tblsp) could be slightly less than 15ml to 20ml. 1 teaspoon (tsp) could be 5 to 7.5ml.
It's a good idea to buy measuring cups & spoons but ensure the equivalent exact amount is stated (not just 1 TB). Those measuring jugs that state the equivalent measurement for different substances like flour, sugar, liquid etc are also very useful. Such measuring tools are not very expensive so you could have different sets for American & British cooking.

cups is 8 oz or about the size of a regular coffee cup. and TB is tablespoon. thats about three spoonfuls from a small spoon.

cup about 200 ml and Tb = tablespoon = 15ml

TB means Tablespoon
and cups means a standard cup. If you use a measuring cup, use the small cup for wet and the large cup for dry,

Cup which is expressed in increments based on 1 (full) cup, i.e. 1/2, 1/3 or 1/4 cups

TB or TBSP=Tablespoon
tsp=teaspoon

If you sometimes use recipes that predominantly list the above type of measurement then do yourself a favour and pick up a set of proper measuring cups and spoons at Asda, Wilkinson's, or Woolworth's. They don't cost very much and it's much easier to pull those out than to have to do a conversion each time you want to make something new.

Cheers

a cup usually means a teacup and TB is tablespoon
