Help with this chinese chicken salad recipe?!

Question: INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 (8 ounce) package dried rice noodles
1 head iceberg lettuce - rinsed, dried, and chopped
4 boneless chicken breast halves, cooked and shredded
3 green onions, chopped
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted

DIRECTIONS
Prepare the dressing 30 minutes ahead of time by combining the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, salad oil, and rice vinegar in a salad dressing carafe.

My question is in step one it says to use salad oil. Is this the vegetable oil or is there a special type of salad oil i'm suppose to get? Also how do I toast sesame seeds?

Thanks!

Yes, the salad oil in the directions is referring to the vegetable oil...If you have canola oil it's healthier for you and a little lighter flavored.
To toast the sesame seeds, just add them to a non-stick pan and toast them over medium heat until they start to release a bit of their oil & turn golden. Toss them around in the pan a few times while toasting to cook them evenly.

that is your salad oil, and to toast the seeds place them in a shallow pan and cook them in the oven on 350 til they toast, be sure to shake them around or turn them for a even toast.

typically the sesame seeds are sold toasted , if not , put em in the oven for just a minute or 2 at 350 , do not let em brown much , it only takes a couple of seconds to over toast em . veggie oil will do fine . The reason i said oven is you may want to do a bunch at 1x + not go through it twice . or just use a pan for a little
