What is another good canned drink to use for beer can chicken other than beer?!
Answers: I am using gingerale for my chicken tonight but what else is good to use?I have a toddler and dont really want to give him the beer in the chicken even though it wouldnt be much. Can I use rootbeer or even a juice?
The cooking method revolves around the steam- so anything that compliments the spices you are using will work. I have used:
Apple juice + garlic + onion powder, salt and pepper
Vinegar + tabasco+ poultry seasoning
Lemonade+ rosemary + sweet white onions
Chicken broth + BBQ sauce
Just put in a can and follow the beer directions- of course, you know that beer is fine for the toddler in a cooked dish as all the alcohol cooks out.
Enjoy!
coke or Dr. pepper. Pineapple juice or OJ. stuff some rosemary in there if you use oj is goooood.
try lemon
I've used Root Bear to replace the beer.
Try Coke.
nfd?
Try root beer, or cream soda, or even a fuity soda like an orange or black cherry etc...
Try pepsi. I had a nice and tender chicken, with just about the same taste as beer butt chicken. Juice, try a cranberry-grape from ocean spray. I used that kind for a base of a sauce for chicken and it turned out well.
Good luck with gingerale.
Ginger ale is nice, ginger beer (which isn't alcoholic) is better - ginger tenderizes meat.
Cola would give it a smoky sweet flavour.
I don't think orange or grape pop would work. Real orange or grape juice might work, but you might be better off doing a proper marinade for that.
You could also use de-alcholized beer.
If you are concerned about your child's safety then just bake the chicken without shoving a can up its ***.
