Any recipes for potatoes in a microwave or is that too weird?!
Answers: I have potatoes but I'm lazy to make anything that will take much time. Does anyone have a quick microwave recipe?
Oh certainly, quick and easy............no worries. If you want a baked potato, pierce the skin with your fork all over the potato then set in on your Micro plate and cook for 6-8 minutes. If you want mashed potatoes, cut up your potatoes into quarterly sections, drizzle some EVOO, salt, pepper and butter, cover the dish with saran wrap with a venting sequence, cook for 7-12 minutes, depending on how many potatoes you have in the dish. Then do your typical addition of milk, butter and mashing of the taters..............If you want Herb Roasted Potatoes, then cut whatever potatoes you have in 1/2, drizzle with EVOO, S&P, Italian seasoning, garlic and onion powder with a couple of dollops of unsalted butter. Microwave on High for 8 minutes, stir, then cook for a final 2-5 minutes, depending on the quantity of potatoes that you have. Good Luck........I love the Microwave for certain things.
Baked works well in the micro.
4 Medium potatoes (russet, yellow gold, or red potatoes)
Your choice spices or herbs (granulated garlic powder, seasoning salt, cayenne pepper, dried dill weed)
Preparation
1. If potatoes are old, peel and slice thin, 1/16" in thickness, slicing across the potato.
2. If the potatoes are new or good skins, DO NOT PEEL, just scrub well, then slice them 1/16" in thickness, slicing across the potato.
3. Sprinkle with your choice of spices or herbs or just leave them plain.
4. If you have a microwave bacon tray, place the sliced potatoes flat on the tray in a single layer.
5. Cover with a microwaveable, round heavy plastic cover.
6. Microwave on HIGH (full power) for 7 to 8 minutes.
7. Cooking time could vary slightly, depending on the wattage of your microwave.
8. You do not have to turn the sliced potatoes over.
9. If you do not have a bacon tray, use a microwave safe casserole dish.
10. Rub the inside of the dish with some olive oil for the first batch of potato chips.
11. I do not know why, but I find that if you do not rub oil the first time, some chips will tend to stick to the dish.
12. After the first batch is done, you do not have to rub the dish again.
13. Continue to microwave the remainder of sliced potatoes as noted above.
You can make anything in the microwave. Put them in a bowl ... cover with saran wrap and microwave about ten minutes until baked potato like...or... cut them up ... rinse them off... put them in a bowl with a little broth (or water) some butter an herbs.. cover with saran and cook about 7 minutes until soft.
get a potato, scrub it, poke holes in it (important), then put it on the microwave for 4 mintues, take it out, turn it over and cook it for another 4 minutes, when that's done put butter, salt, bacon or something else on it, it's very basic, but good.
Maybe you need to do some shopping, what else have you got to go with it? You can do a baked potatoe in the microwave but it won't be the same. Just get it in the oven, plenty of salt n pepper, bit of olive oil, 180C, 45 mins.
MICROWAVE POTATOES
Slice approximately 6 to 8 potatoes into 1/2 inch slices. Place them on the bottom of a microwave safe dish. Take 2 sticks of butter and slice into pats. Distribute the pats of butter evenly over the top of the sliced potatoes.
Slice one large onion into rings and then place the rings over top of the potatoes and butter. Season with salt and pepper. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the microwave for 20 minutes on high. THAT'S IT! THEY'RE GREAT!
