I had a knife experience at my daughter's house today. She had recieved it from her dad...?!

Question: for Christmas, and she had thrown it in the "thinger" drawer. I found my kitchen soul-mate! Anyone out there ever chosen a specific knife...one that you might actually steal from your own daughter? Don't worry...I'm a wimp and won't :(

yes, some knives fit and work so well they become favorites.

I have an 8-inch Henkles Twin forged series chef's knife. It's great. Easy to use, not too long to handle. I get it professionally sharpened about once a year.

I have a knife that I have spent years to create a perfect edge and I would be gutted if it was nicked, particularly by a family member.

... just ask her for it ?? I'm sure if its in the junk drawer she doesn't use it / want it and would be happy if it was put to some use.

well I would never steal anything from my daughter but I understand your passion. As a chef for 22 years now I've used one knife as my other right hand so to speak. It is the Global 20cm Japanese chef's knife. It is forged of the hardest alloy steel known to man (meaning I don't have to sharpen it as often), and only weighs in at 85 grams or just over 3 oz.! I never use a steel as they are pointless nowadays, but pull sharpeners sold at any Wal-Mart/Grocery store chain work amazingly well and take 1/3 the time to maintain a proper edge. Plus they have the angle set so you cant accidentally knick your edge. It was 12 years ago when I bought "Marge." Still one of the best days of my life. I loooooove you Margie girl!!!!

Yep ... this one:

The one pictured is a newer model, but I've had mine for years and years and ... if my house is ever on fire, THIS is what I'm grabbing (along with my dogs and my leather jacket) on my way out!

I have this amazing knife, and I'm trying to find a duplicate so my mom won't need to steal mine! It's made by MAXAM, Japan. It has a blunt point, and a wooden handle and is mainly for chopping. An ulu, a traditional native american u shaped knife from Alaska, works in a similar way and is easier to find. You can chop veggies so fast!

what the heck kind of question is this?
