How to prepare upma?!


Question: Ingredients:
? 1 Cup sooji
? 1/3 Cup peas
? 1 Onion
? 2 tbsp Ghee
? 2 Cups water
? 2 Green chilies
? 1/4 tsp Ginger
? 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
? 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
? Curry leaves
? 8 Cashewnuts
? Salt to taste


How to make Upma:
? Mix and rub ghee into the sooji.
? Roast in microwave for about 2 minutes.
? Mix remaining ghee, cumin seeds, curry leaves, mustard and cashew nuts in a casserole.
? Cook the mixture on Micro High for about 3 minutes.
? Add chopped greed chilli, ginger, onions and cook again for 3 minutes.
? Now add salt, roasted sooji and water.
? Stir well and cover it.
? Cook in microwave for 10 minutes.
? Upma is ready. Serve it with pickle.

Take some semolina and measure out how much you need. Heat some oil in a pan. Add chilies and some spices. Add tomato puree and peas. Then add the semolina and stir well. Make sure there are no lumps. You can make it without the tomato puree as well.

Idli Upma

Ingredients

left over idlis - 5
onion (big) - 1
green chilli - 1
oil - 1 tsp
channa dhal - 1/2 tsp
urad dhal - 1/2 tsp
chilli powder - 1/4 tsp (if you have the dhal chilli powder normally used for idlis, that'll be
preferable, that can be used upto 1 tsp)

Method

Break idlis into crumbs using hand.
If you're using the Dhal powder mix that with a tsp of oil with the idli crumbs
Chop onion and chilli into small pieces
Heat oil and add the dhals. Fry till they turn golden in color
Add onion and chilli and saute.
Add idli crumbs. If you're using ordinary chilli powder, add it now and mix gently for a few
seconds.
Serve hot with chutney. It'll taste really great.
