Pork roast how long do i cook it?!
Answers: its an 8lb pork shoulder.i just need to know how many minutes a pound.if u have any other suggestions that would be a bonus for me and maybe 10pts for u :) thanks soo much! peace out...
Pork should be cooked at a high temp to ensure the worms (trichinosis) are all killed. Therefore it should be cooked at 450 F initially, then temp lowered to 250.
Total cooking time may vary, but use a meat thermometer to check internal temp. To be safe, I recomment about 180 F.
Although you may never get sick with lower temps, why take a chance. And all it takes it one parasite for someone to get it.
Til internal temp reaches 165 or higher and the juice runs clear.....approximately 20 minutes per pound, although I sometimes cook longer at lower temp to retain juice and tenderness......crock pots work great
4 hours at 250 degrees and it will simply fall apart....mmmm
Best advice I can give is to invest in a probe thermometer where the probe goes into the roast and the thermometer sits outside the oven. You set it at the desired temperature and it beeps when the roast is done. This will set you back about $15 or $20 but is a great tool for making roasting simple.
20 minutes per pound at 350 if you don't have or don't want to get the thermometer. I still recommend at least an instant read thermometer to check before removing. I normally remove the roast at 165f and it will usually rise about 5 degrees after removing from oven
you really can't do the minutes per pound thing, it would vary with what temperature you are cooking the roast at, whether you are using a convection oven or a conventional oven, and whether you roast is boneless or bone in. the best and safest way is to use an instant read meat thermometer that you can pick up in the grocery store. Pork must cook to an internal temperature of 160F. I usually pull it out of the oven at 155F and let it rest. The carry over cooking will take it the rest of the way. Pork shoulder has quite a bit of fat and connective tissue and I find the best method for cooking is is to braise it in a cooking liquid for a long time at a lower (350F) heat. cooked this way, it renders off the fat while creating a tender piece of meat that falls off the bones.
About 20 mins per pound at 325-350. Lower the temp and roast longer then you can get that wonderful "pulled pork.
I do an 8 lb butt on my grill in 2 and a half hours on Hi .....I only use one burner and the meat on the "unburner" side. I use a salt and pepper rub and mix some Emeril's Essence.
Some good potato salad and baked beans WhoooooooBaby and a good cold, cold cold beer. Life don't get any better
dip in flour and seasoning , pan fry til brown on all sides cook time would be about 25 minutes per lb. put it in a brown in bag with cerlery and onions, and carrots. what time should i show up?
Average time/temp is 20 min per pound at 350-400. I always use a thermometer, & get it to 165 degrees. The meat will be wonderfully tender & tasty..
