This will Kick your burgers up to the next level! You will love them!
well obviously you need minced meat
and some finely chopped onions and egg whites to hold it together.
trust me, i know it's simple but it really tates good
You could stuff your burger with cooked bacon and swiss cheese or whatever you like. Make two patties , put your filling in the middle and cook on med-high heat til cooked thru. To cook faster, use a cover over the pan. Enjoy!
My family really likes when I mix a little dry onion soup mix in to the meat before I grill it. You don't need that much to get the taste but if you REALLY like onion flavor you can put more in for the full taste.
I have also made them where I put swiss cheese and bbq sauce in the middle of the burger. They were hard to get the hang of to make but tasted really good.

There really is a secret to great burgers:
First, you have to start with meat that is NOT lean, like 85%. (I know, it goes against our instincts, but that's what makes a really juicy hamburger). Next, you need to get a hamburger spice (found in the spice isle). Mix the spice in with the hamburger before you make patties, for a well-distributed flavor. Make nice, round, thick patties. When you grill them, DON'T smash them down with your spatula. You want the juice to stay inside.
Next, you need to find the best condiments you can. Offer several kinds of mustard (I love the spicy german kind), SWEET sliced onions, pickles that fit the hamburger bun, the best tomatoes you can find, ketchup, of course.
As for the bun. DON'T buy the pre-packaged kind, unless you have to. Go to the deli and see if they offer home made buns. Those would be much better. Also...get several kinds of cheese, again from the deli, to offer guests.
I would also make a killer salad or two. This always helps make a meal. Here is one salad everyone raves about, and it's really easy:
Caesar Coleslaw
1 pkg pre-made coleslaw
1/4-1/2 cup shredded parmesean cheese
1/2 pkg caesar croutons
1 bottle creamy caesar dressing
Toss first three ingredients together. Add enough dressing to coat. It's even good the next day!
and another that's quite good:
Broccoli Cheese Salad
4 cups broccoli, cut into small pieces
1 red onion, chopped
1 cup cubed cheddar cheese
6 slices bacon, cooked, crumbled
Combine above ingredients. Combine 1 cup mayonnaise, ? cup sugar, and 2 Tbsp vinegar, salt and pepper to taste. Pour over salad.
Potatoe salad is always a hit. I haven't been able to make one that is better than the deli makes. It's called Reeser's potatoe salad. BBQ beans are always wonderful as a side, too.
Sorry, I went on and on. I love to cook, and I love burgers!
Have fun!
Chris
I forget where I got this, but here it is. I like the Fajita burgers, and the Asian.
Basic Burgers
In bowl, beat 1 egg with fork; mix in ? cup (50 ml) dry bread crumbs. ? tsp (2 ml) salt, l/4 tsp (1 ml) pepper and Add-Ins. Mix in 1 lb (500 g) medium ground beef.
Shape into four ? inch (1 cm) thick patties. Place on greased grill over medium-high heat; close lid and cook, turning once, for about 10 minutes or until no longer pink inside. (or fry in fry pan) Add Toppers. Place each in bun. Makes 4 servings.
Fajita Burgers:
ADD-INS: 1 sweet red pepper, diced, 2 cloves garlic, minced, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice, 1 tsp (5 ml) chili powder.
TOPPERS: salsa and 1 avocado, sliced
French Onion Burgers:
ADD-INS: 1 onion grated, 1 TBSP (15ml) each wine vinegar and Worcestershire sauce.
TOPPERS: Swiss cheese slice added to each for last minute of cooking and grilled thick slices Spanish onion.
Hot Asian Burgers
ADD-INS: 1 tbsp (15 ml) each soy sauce and rice or wine vinegar, 1 1/2 tsp (7 ml) ground ginger, 2 cloves garlic, minced, 1 tsp (5 ml) hot pepper sauce.
TOPPERS: 2 green onions chopped.
Cheddar Burgers
ADD-INS: 1 cup (250 ml) shredded Cheddar cheese, 1 green apple, grated
TOPPERS: Dijonnaise sauce and alfalfa sprouts
Mediterranean Burgers
ADD-INS: 2 tbsp (25 ml) each pesto and chopped black olives
TOPPERS: sliced tomatoes
Perfect Patties
Why settle for plain old hamburger buns when you can choose from the array available? Look for buns such as onion, cheese, olive, sesame, poppy seed, whole wheat, herb or large kaisers. Toast buns during the last few minutes of grilling. Since fat drains off while burgers are grilling, use medium ground beef for more juicy, flavourful hamburgers. Patties made with lean ground beef tend to lose moisture during cooking and become dry. Juicy burgers need only gentle shaping when being formed. Overmixing and too much pressing and patting make tough, dry hamburgers.
Turn burgers only once. Don't press or flatten with spatula during cooking because this forces out juices. Cook burgers until no longer pink inside. Cut into them and if still pink, return them to the grill.
Cheesey Joes
Brown 1 # hamburger/drain--season to taste & add onion/cook tender--add a can of cheddar cheese soup & heat--serve on buns with chips
I sometimes add an enveloope of taco seasoning mix with a little water before adding the cheese. Put lelttuce & sliced tomato on the bun, add a little taco sauce & a dab of sour cream, & you have an american taco..
Spicy Grilled Turkey Burger with Coleslaw
Turkey burgers:
1 1/2 pounds ground turkey (white meat, dark meat, or a mixture)
1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
3 Tbsp mayonnaise
2 Tbsp chopped fresh chives
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 to 3 teaspoons of hot chile sauce such as Tabasco sauce (amount depends on how spicy you like your foods), or Tabasco Chipotle sauce
2 green onions, minced, white and green parts
4 fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon sea salt, or more to taste
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper, or more to taste
4 hamburger buns, lightly toasted
Sweet pickle slices
1 tomato, cored and sliced
Coleslaw
2 cups shredded cabbage
1 cup loosely packed arugula, watercress, or just another cup of shredded cabbage
10 basil leaves, thinly sliced
1/2 cup of mayonnaise
1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
1 Prepare your grill (either charcoal or gas) for direct high heat. Or right before cooking, heat a griddle or large cast iron frying pan on the stovetop.
2 Combine the turkey, bread crumbs, mayonnaise, chives, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, chili sauce, basil, salt and pepper in a large bowl and work the mixture with your hands to just mix. Do not over mix or the burgers will be tough. Form the mixture into 4 1-inch thick patties.
3 Season both sides of the patties with salt and pepper. Grill them for 5-7 minutes on each side, until the internal temperature of the patties reach 170°F on a meat thermometer. Turkey burgers should be cooked through, not rare. Toward the end of the cooking, put the buns on the grill to toast for about a minute. Remove the burgers from the grill to a platter, cover and let rest for 5 minutes.
4 Assemble the coleslaw. Whisk the mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard, sugar, red pepper flakes together in a small bowl. Add to the cabbage, arugula, and basil in a larger bowl right before serving.
5 Assemble the burgers by placing each burger on a bottom bun, and stacking a tomato slice, some pickles, and a bit of coleslaw on top, and then topping with the top bun.
Makes 4 burgers.
