Does anyone have a recipe that uses up cereal?!
Answers: I have an abundance of cereal that I'd like to use up to make room in my cubbards. I have Life, Rice Krispies, Cheerios, Kix, Chex, and Corn Flakes. I'm looking for any recipe that will use some of these up. I've already done rice krispy bars and special K type bars with the corn flakes, and chex mix with the chex. I know there's got to be other recipes out there! I'd love to hear yours!
You can crush the unsweetened ones really fine and 1) add to meatloaf, 2) use to coat chicken for oven fried chicken, 3) mix with melted butter, sugar & cinnamon for crusts for cheesecakes , 4) sprinkle crumbs on top of mac & cheese (baked) for a crust .... just about any place that you'd use bread or cookie crumbs. You can freeze the crumbs in little baggies to pull out to use later
3 cups miniature marshmallows
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
3 cups Cheerios? cereal
1/2 cup raisins
1/3 cup sunflower nuts
10 flat wooden sticks with round ends
1. Cover cookie sheet with waxed paper. In 3-quart saucepan, heat marshmallows and butter over low heat, stirring constantly, until marshmallows are melted and mixture is smooth. Stir in peanut butter until blended. Remove from heat.
2. Stir in cereal, raisins and nuts until evenly coated. Let stand 2 minutes.
3. Shape mixture into 2-inch balls. Insert wooden stick into center of each ball; place on waxed paper. Let stand until firm, about 30 minutes. Store balls wrapped in plastic wrap.
Tips from the kitchen
Success:
Spray your hands lightly with cooking spray if the cereal mixture is too sticky to shape.
