Most non-stick cookware is meant to be washed by hand. Many say hand wash only right on the box or label. The harsh detergent and hot water tend to thin the coating, making it easy to scratch even with wooden spoons and spatulas. The dishwasher also tends to loosen the handles on the pan and lid, creating a hazard if there's hot liquid or grease involved. The manufacturer of your cookware probably has a website. If so, you might want to check it out.

It's probably your detergent. Buy Electrosol, it's safe.

No, but the banging around while the water jets hit it could rub it up against other dishes. Teflon is alum based and should never go in dishwasher anyway. When it pits, alum can leach into food and you know that is bad...all the ALZ connection.

If u put everything u used into the dishwasher u probably are a very practical person because if it really requires that much hassle to clean something maybe its not worth bothering about scratches. or if it doesn't survive the machine its probably not worth keeping ..he he I'm like that with clothes too

no, it could be the way you are handling some of your pots and pans. kitchenware that are made of teflon or non-stick chemicals scratch easily and it could be when you are using the pans that you are scratching it.

I never put my pots and pans in the dishwasher! It "overwashes" them and they lose all their seasoning (meaning the food sticks to them and they wear out much faster.) Hand wash pans and pots and you will be much better off-even if you own inexpensive ones!
