Homemade hamburgers, how do you make?!

Question: when you make your burgers do you use plain old hamburger mince? Or do you add things like seasonings, egg, sauces to try to jazz it up a bit? I do the "jazz" thing but wonder what plain tastes like?

You've been making meatballs!
Yes, please try it just plain and after its cooked add your salt and pepper,
ketchup if you like or BBQ sauce.
I sometimes add chunks of cheese, red onions, red and green peppers minced and a dash of ketchup , mix ,and fry or grill.
Those are great also.
Once you add eggs and herbs your entering the "meatball" dimension.

You sound English as most Americans say ground meat. For hamburgers (bun, mustard, pickle, lettuce, tomato, onion, and meat patty) I generally just use salt and pepper, and perhaps a bit of onion powder. Hamburgers (the name sandwiches with these ingredients is called) have such a distinct taste, you don't want to mess it up.

If you are making shaped patties to just eat with side dishes, you can do any extra thing to it you want. You can make a meat loaf or any number of recipes.

eggs are only in ghetto burgers to stretch it out.... save that for meat loaf. The secret is to use a low to medium fat blend. Its on the package... I like 80/20.... use salt, pepper and season salt and my secret ingredient is some A-1. mix by hand and make the burger bigger than the bun as it will shrink.

Just ground chuck, smashed into thin patties, add lots of black pepper, little garlic powder(very little). Heat an iron skillet to really, really hot, drop the meat on there. It will smoke like crazy and char it. Turn down & cook till done. Add cheese to top of meat till melted. Put two patties, crisp bacon, lettuce, red onion, tomato, mayo, mustard on a good toasted bun with home fries and a kosher pickle!!! A n icey cold coke or a beer!

You can make it with good quality minced beef but it must have a least 20%fat for flavor some people like to bind it with and egg
You can add bacon pieces diced onion or mushroom. And whatever seasons . I like little bacon in mine.

here are some websites to look at.. Enjoy

you can season your hamburgers with whatever you like. if you use just plain hamburger though, you can really get an appreciation for the flavor, texture and juiciness of the meat you use. try mixing meats. such as beef with lamb. it will make for a whole new taste. if you want a juicy burger without adding flavors, try wrapping your meat around a pad of butter before grilling. the butter will melt and stay within the meat, making your patties extra juicy without compromising the flavor. plain burgers with no seasonings are not boring at all. you just need to make sure you don't over-cook them.

The plain version tastes like the stuff you get when you go out to eat...

Plain is also good, because you can use absolutely anything to dress it up, & with "jazz", sometimes it would clash..I usually put either BBQ or taco sauce on my plain burgers..
