Do you cook with and eat Lamb?!
Answers: I have never had lamb, I don't even see it in the stores around here. I live in the West and we have lots of sheep but it is not common for people to eat lamb. I know my grandmother had it because my dad said he hated it. This was way before I was born. I see lots of recipes for it but it seems so weird that it is not even available. Just wondering?
I made lamb the other day. I like it a lot. If you know how to make it properly, it's delicious. Also, it isn't "expensive." Just like beef, it's expensive if you buy certain cuts. I bought a pack of lamb stew bones last week for $3 and made a delicious pot of stewed lamb.
You're right that it isn't common. Sometimes I can't find good lamb. I often can't find ground lamb.
I recommend that if you have lamb chops, you avoid having them prepared by anyone who serves them with mint jelly. I find the practice of smearing jelly onto meat really gross, and I've generally found that people who serve jelly with the meat don't prepare it well. In my opinion, if you want really good lamb, try a Greek restaurant.
no, I've never had lamb either!
i like it and have it usually a couple times a year if you have ever had a gyro that is lamb lamb is big in the greek cooking
I am not sure about the west, but it is definetly available in the east. I cook it all the time, I love it. I like to roast a leg of lamb, or cut the leg into chunks and make shish ka bob on the grill.
It is my favorites meat actually. i live in Nor Cal and it is on allot of menus at restaurants. i get mine from a local butcher.
I don't really care for lamb, but my husband and kids like it. I don't buy it often. It's pretty expensive. My mother-in-law makes a dish from ground lamb called Kibbeh, and it's very good, but I've never tried making it myself.
the only lamb i like is in the gyro sandwich. I tried making lamb roast that i bought one time- researched recipes and everything- it turned out terrible! It was gamey and on top of that i discovered that i really dislike French providence spices.
Yes I do cook with it although not as much as I would like to due to its high cost and the limited availability of it in some parts of the Chicagoland area. Most regular grocery stores here offer lamb on a daily basis, but it’s almost always more expensive than other alternatives and the choice of cuts is limited. Around here, the leg is offered at a somewhat high price, while some blade and other chops are also sometimes available. If you are lucky, sometimes you can get ground lamb or some other cuts, such as arm chops.
The last time that I used lamb was on St. Patrick’s Day for a stew.
