Question about making cookie dough?!

Alot of people sift the flour just to make sure there are none of those hard chunks in there. It won't change the texture of anything you cook just because you sift it.

if the recipe specifies sifting then sift. you actually use less flour if its sifted

I sift the flour to blend in the other dry ingredients like the baking powder, salt, baking soda, and spices. That way there is not a chance of them being in lumps somewhere. Did you ever get a cookie that had the teaspoon of salt in it and not in any of the others?? Purely nasty!!! And baking soda is always lumpy so it needs to either be sifted with flour or dissolved in hot water before adding to whatever you are adding it to.

More cake like?? No, that would be less flour than necessary. You must be using a cake like cookie recipe!!
