Should corn muffins be a little golden brown on top?!

Question: I am making corn muffins from scratch. Baking them from scratch at 350 deg for 20 minutes. They are not golden brown on top at all. Should they be? If I bake them longer, won't they dry out?

TIA for your help!

Poke a toothpick in the center of one. If it comes out clean, it's done. It doesn't have to be golden.

more golden than brown.take them out now if they are ready..they will continue to cook after you take them out.

lightly golden not brown

just barely golden, you dont want them to get dry. Yummy though, send me some?

Put a toothpick in the middle, if it is dry then it is done.

Of course they should! Barring cheesecake, the final words to ANY baking recipe should be "...until golden brown."

yes
