What is wheat bran? can you make it like porridge?!


Question: could i make wheat bran like porridge, oat bran says you can but wheatbran doesnt actually say so on the packet ?

YES of course you can...you can make porridge or "gruel"out of any grain though some require longer cooking times...and some are famous as National dishes when spiced correctly... Like the many uses for Bulger wheat, cracked or other wise. (Tabouleh, Malto-Meal) Corn...Polenta, corn puddin', mamaliga (Romanian)...etc

Bran is the hard outer layer of grain and consists of combined aleurone and pericarp.

i think that you can not

Wheat bran is very rich in insoluble fibre and has a high protein, vitamin and mineral content. It can be added to bread and other doughs or used in making muesli, porridges etc.

no-- it is not soluble in water, so it is not at all like oat bran
