Has anyone tried to make a number 2 shaped cake?!
Answers: My son is turning 2 in june and i want to make a number 2 shaped cake with some decorations ,and i was wondering if anyone have done that before,how you made the shape and how many people was it for cause i have 46 guests .i know i could go to a bakery and get one but they cost around 200 dollars and i kinda have a budget.
I know you said that the pans are way too small; but if you make the cake with the number 2 pan, then you can make cupcakes around it and have cake and cupcakes...on the cupcakes you can draw the #2 with icing or something. It may be a little more work, but it would be fun and cute. Good Luck and tell your son i say happy b-day! lol
Well, using ''2'' pans can help, you can get them at the bulk barn.
And you could try free hand cutting it.
Bake off a couple of sheet cakes in whatever flavor you want. Let the cake cool completely. Print a number 2 template from the computer and enlarge it to the right size on a copier. Kinko's has copiers than can get it to the size you want. Using the template, cut the cake into the right shape. Depending on the size, you might have to cut it into a few pieces and put them together. Toothpicks will hold them together just fine and will not show once frosted. Frost the cake as desired and enjoy!

One more idea: Make a bunch of cupcakes and arrange them on the platter in the number 2!
Good luck!
make a few of the smaller number 2 cakes;
orrr make a small number 2 cake, then put it on top of a large sheet cake that will feed everyone.
From a professional side - make the "2" cake for your son and a regular sheet cake for your guests! Another option would be to make a sheet and put a smaller "2" on it.
I have made a "2" (and a few other numbers!) but only for 10 or less people. I used two pans - one round; the other square. Cut the rounded part from the round cake; the straighter parts from the square. Put them together with wooden skewers to hold it in place and then iced it.
To make a "2" large enough to feed that many people would take two professional size/weight sheet pans which will not fit in a standard oven. Then layer the two with a filling between them; then cut out the shape using a pattern (just to be safe). Finally, ice it ... there you have a large "2" cake.
