Can you make tomato soup out of tomato paste? If so how?!
Answers: I had a random craving for tomato soup, and i could not find any, the closest thing i had was tomato paste, if you add water to it and cook it will it make tomato soup or do you have to add lots of stuff to it? If you have any knowledge of rather it can be used as an alternative to tomato soup please tell me.
Add about 1 1/2 - 2 cans of milk to the tomato paste, heat on a low to medium flame. If you have it, add a little bit of onion powder and a tiny bit of garlic powder (to taste).
Put a pinch (just a pinch) of sugar to cut down on some of the acidity since you're using straight tomato paste.
Add a little bit of parsley while it cooks...and slap a pad of butter on there when you're ready to eat...
That's probably about as close as you can get with just tomato paste.
Good luck!
you could make it that way, but it probably wouldn't taste like tomato soup and would have a slight bitter taste.
adding water to it will make soup. have to add enough water to dissolve it completely
use water and milk, small amount of sugar to taste, this will take away the bitter taste of the tomato paste. I think if done properly it tastes better than regular tomato soup.
Thats a good question. I mean, you can't just smash tomatoes....that would be odd......and I couldnt see that happening. Maybe you could do that---but to be sure, look up how to make tomato soup. That would help. I have random cravings a lot too. Good luck
Okay I tried this and it was pretty good.
1 medium onion thinly sliced
1 garlic clove minced
2 tbsp veggie oil
1 tbsp butter
3 large tomatoes sliced
1/2 tsp salt
pinch pepper
1-6 oz can tomato paste
1/4 cup flour
2 cups water divided
3/4 cup whipping cream whipped
1-2 tbsp finely chopped fresh dill, or 1-2 tsp dill weed
In large pan saute the onions and garlic in the oil until tender, add the tomatoes, and salt and pepper. Until heated thru remove from heat and add the tomato paste.
In a small bowl mix the 1/2 of the water and the flour, pour into sauce pan and stir intil smooth, gradually add remaining water. Cook and stir for 2 min until it has thickened somewhat.
Place a sieve over a large bowl and pour the tomato mix, press with the back of a wooden spoon to remove the seeds and skins. Return to pan and add cream and dill, heat thru and serve. Be careful not to boil it.
Or you could just try diluting it with some milk, cream or canned milk. Add some seasonings such as celery salt, granulated garlic, and onion powder and a little salt and pepper. You never know what youo may end up with in the end.
