Spreading jelly on bread?!

Question: when i try to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich the peanut butter goes on very nicely, but i can never get the jelly right. the clumps never break up and when i try to break them up (with the back of a spoon) i push a hole into the bread. I've even mashed up the jelly on the spoon before i tried to spread it out, but that doesn't work for me either! any techniques?

use a knife

Use an all fruit spread instead. If you already have jelly on hand, put some in a food processor first, to break up the clumps. You should have no problems spreading it in the bread. I do this when I need a topping for cheesecake and it works everytime.

Good luck!

I will always be a little lumpy, but spread it on the other piece of bread, not on top of the peanut butter, It will stick to bread better then the slick p'butter.

Try useing Jam, it tastes better and spreads much easier! Or You might need to get a hearty bread? Wheat breads work well:)
