What can be made with grapes?!
Answers: Besides wine, obviously. My husband is a grape fanatic, and I was wondering if anyone out there had a recipe to use them, maybe a pie or some sort of baking idea? I am clueless, thanks ;)
CHICKEN BREASTS W/ GRAPE SAUCE
I like to make a simple main dish by sauteing chicken breasts in a couple(3) T. of butter...remove from pan when firm then saute until translucent about a 1/2 c. Shallots (or the white part of green onions) and add a 1/2 to 3/4 c. white wine -Chardonnay is inexpensive and fruity... (sorry, this is a dish that I make that is similar to my Raspbery Chicken...no recipe) AND reduce by at least 1/2--- add about a cup of halved GREEN GRAPES until heated.(correct seasoning S& white P) and add a dab of butter to the sauce to give it some shine.
Put your breasts on a platter---choose a color that will set off the cool green of the grapes, please....and pour the grape sauce over...You could garnish with thin sliced fresh fruits like orange, lemon or kiwi on the edge...
Serve with plain white fluffy rice and a simply cooked green veggie (chinese peas, asparagus, small green beans)
How strange:) Someone else asked for a grape recipe yesterday! I found this in an old recipe book of my grandmother's:
SEEDLESS GRAPE PIE
1 9" unbaked pie crust
1-1/2 lb. seedless grapes
3/4 c. sugar
1 TB. flour
2 egg yolks
1/4 c. water
Mix egg yolks & water well; add flour & sugar & mix well; add grapes and put into crust. Bake at 375 for 3/4 hour. Then cover with meringue: 2 egg whites, beaten into stiff peaks with 4 TB. sugar. Stick back in oven for a few minutes until peaks start to brown
chicken salad is really good with grapes and almonds in it
