Canned.

Canned.

It's all a matter of personal taste. Personally, I wouldn't add them (as I don't like canned peas). If I was going to try it, I'd use frozen peas(firmer...not as mushy).

No....Peas and Chilli don't mix, don't ruin a good thing by adding Peas...

no peas

no. yuck.

I don't think so...No.

BEANS NOT PEAS

I am also going to vote NO. Peas won't work in chili. But do this - add a couple of heaping tablespoons of cocoa powder to it! Seriously - it won't make it taste like chocolate, it will make it darker and richer. Chocolate was discovered by the same folks who discovered the chili pepper, and they were often used together in meat recipes in ancient Mesoamerica. It was the Europeans who first added sugar to chocolate - bless their hearts!

I would advise against adding the peas.
I guess corn would be alright since it will give it sort of a tex-mex flair, although it's not a typical ingredient in any traditional chili recipe I've had.
I think it would add a bit of sweetness and texture.... good idea.

The peas, however, would get a big mushy and are unneccessary since most chili calls for a different form of bean anyway (kidney, pinto, black, white, etc.) Those ones are much more suited for chili since they can stand up against the long simmering without breaking apart or getting too soft.

Why not serve the peas as a side or something if you really want to eat them with your meal. :)

NOOOO WAAYYY !!! that is just gross !!!! black beans, corn, chickpeas, or different peppers ..ok. but peas....that would ruin it !!!

If you put corn and/or peas into your chili, you will have created a stew, not chili. :o)

True chili does not have vegetables, corn, potatoes added. However, you are allowed to add pinto and kidney beans.

I LOVE corn in my chili. It gives a nice sweet crunch to each bite of chili.

pinto bean to chilie corn

i wouldnt put in peas but something i put into my chili to make it a bit sweeter is canned pork and beans, im not a big spicy fan and it tastes really good

No...canned are to mushy...I really dont see how it will improve the flavor of chili anyhow... try a bit of chuncky peanut butter and chocolate powder, unsweetened though...
