Both Presto and Nordic Ware make plastic devices that you put in the microwave to pop real popcorn kernels. The Presto one you can use with or without oil and salt. Below are the Amazon links.

I guess you'd have to put some popcorn along with some oil or butter into a micro proof bowl with a lid and let it pop. idk.

try a ziplock steamer bag this way the bag wont pop open because it has a steamhole for the heat to escape and popcorn will not be all over the microwave. make sure you dont put a lot in the bag though , give it room to pop.

I wouldn't recommend it since the popcorn bags are actually pretty high tech. You could try to put them in a glass bowl with plastic on top with holes poked in it.

If you have a microwave popcorn bag around though, you can try to re-use it...

Probably easier to make it on the stovetop.

Put an 8 cup pot on the stove with 1/4c vegitable oil in it and about 5 popcorn kernels. Turn the heat on high.

When the first kernals have popped, add in 1/3 cup of popcorn and cover with the lid slightly off.

When the popping slows down, take off the heat and let cook for about one more minute.

Dump into a bowl and add salt or whatever.
