What's that white stuff on salmon?!

Question: I've noticed that when cooking salmon (more so with sockeye salmon) a white substance builds up on the top after I take it out of the oven. What is it, and is it healthy to eat? thanks

It is some of the fat which has broken down during cooking. It is not unusual ... just scrape it away before serving since it is unsightly. Also, check to see if you are overcooking it a bit; that is the most common cause for a larger amount of it.

It's the good stuff oozing out of the pristine jovial honorable salmon.

it is the omega three that moisturizes your brain its reli healthy for you and thats like the hole reason you should eat it!!!

omega-3 very healthy for you, a good fatty acid.lots of health benefits.salmon is also the best source

Of course it's healthy to eat! It's the juices coming out of the Salmon. When it gets hot it comes out of the fish.Hope this helped!

fish semen

fat

Its bacteria but its okay to eat.
From cooking the salmon in the oven all the bacteria is cooked and risen to the top of the fish.

It is albumin protein. Also in egg whites. When you cook the fish, the protein denatures and forms the white substance that looks a lot like cooked egg whites.

its omega..a salmon fat..now i personally dont like it tho
