I like fried potatoes. How do i prepare them without spending money on expensive gadgets?!
Answers: is there a special oil or method? Please, include gadgets that are reasonably priced and are multi-purpose.
What, like a peeler and a knife? You don't need any special oil or gadget.
Here are several different ways to fry them:

I would suggest a thermometer. One that may be used for candymaking, it's usually glass & inexpensive, multipurpose. You will be able to keep track of the oil's temperature using a simple pot on the stove.
all you need is oil and potatoes...it doesnt really matter which oil you use...olive oil is the best tho...peel and slice potatoes...make sure oil is really hot before putting them in...season with what you want...onions sliced while frying them is real good also
All you need is a frying pan and some type of cooking oil.
no special gadgets other than a stove/oven, a knife and a few potatoes and some olive oil
here is my low fat rendition..
I just slice or chunk up some potatoes.. I lightly boil them to sort of cook/soften them up a bit.. (only about 5 min in boiling water).. then drain them.. plop them back to the pan, toss with just about 2 tsp olive oil... then use some spices you ahve on hand.. if you can afford it or have it.. toss some cajun or bbq or mexican chili powder on them.. with a bit of salt...
if you dont have those, just salt, pepper, maybe some garlic or onion spice..... toss around with spoons coating all..
then turn OVEN on bake 350F... and spread them out on a flat baking pan.. and bake for 30min or so, till they are crispy browned... This is a very low fat version of fried potatoes.. and believe me, they are just as good...
No peeler needed, just a knife. Wash the potatoes, cut into wedges, toss with 1 tbs oil and seasoning. Place on cookie sheet an put in 350 F oven for 45 minutes. Turn half way thru.
Put some oil in a pan and then put the sliced potatoes in the pan.
A cast iron pan, well seasoned, is the key to great fried potatoes as well as many other dishes- well worth the investment to get one. ( Lodge brand is cheap and fine) PUt a small amount of oil and butter in the pan over medium heat, add sliced potatoes and onions, cover, and leave alone for 3 minutes. Turn potatoes, cover for 3 minutes more and then uncover. Keep flipping potatoes until crispy and brown. Enjoy!
if you have a microwave you can make them easily
just peel the potato and cut into fries the choice of size etc is yours, then place them into the microwave and cover with water, cook them for a short time and take them out and drain thoroughly, then place them into hot oil and cook till chrisp
easy
