Too much water in crock pot for fixing ribs?!
Answers: I'm a dork when it comes to cooking...although by luck it always turns out great! I thought when you cooked meat in the crock pot, you have to fully cover meat with water (plus some more!). That is what I have done in the past while cooking ribs. Am I using too much water? (pretty much filled to the top of rim with water!)

I wouldn't put water in there at all....Just put in some homemade BBQ sauce and let them cook!
Never heard of the water thing and ribs...unless you are boiling them first. but i would never cook them in a crockpot with water.
Really no need for any water, if you must or are worried about it drying out, just put a tiny bit in the bottom.
Most crock pots have a "fill line". Ribs are easier to cook in the crock pot if you bake them for an hour or so before you put them in the crock pot. Just barely cover the ribs with beef broth, on low for 5-6 hours. the meat will also add juices to the pot. You are using way too much water.
there's a difference between a crock pot and a slow cooker. If you're cooking something in a slow cooker, yes you'd have to add some water (though not that much). But a crock pot is designed to seal in the moisture, so that you really don't need to put any in. The only exception to that is if you're cooking some sort of dried beans (black beans, peas, etc). Some of the naturally occurring water in those items tends to be soaked into the beans, so you have to add some). Frankly, except for dried beans, I wouldn't put more than about a cup of water in there.
For ribs, I always boil them for about 20-30 minutes before I put them in. This GREATLY cuts down on the time you have to put them into the crock pot.
You need moisture, but if you dump in a bottle of BBQ sauce, that's plenty...
