If i put food coloring in white cake mix, can i change the color, and still have a good cake?!

Question: i want to trun the cake blue or green.

Answers: i want to trun the cake blue or green.

You can add food coloring to cakes, no problem. If you are worried that you are going to make the cake mix too watery, add the coloring to your liquid measurements. For example, a cup of water...measure almost a cup, add the food coloring and then fill the cup.

I would be careful with red and black, though. Red and black food colorings can become bitter if you add too much.

Good luck...it will be a beautiful cake!

yea it will be fine. its just food coloring

depends on how much you put in it. if you want a lighter green or blue cake then it may not change the taste. if you want it really dark then the cake may change a little in taste.

i made a purple birthday cake and i used lots of red and blue to make it (didn't have purple) and the cake tasted funny.

Yes it's tasteless it will be fine

Adding food coloring will not affect the taste of the cake, however you will get mainly a pastel color by using the liquid coloring, if you get the paste food dye ( sold in little pots that look like makeup pots) you will get a more vibrant color

absolutely, you'd be amazed the fun stuff to do to color a cake!! take a little food coloring and put into whip cream,. put into the middle of the two cake parts... fun fun

i think so you can put food coloring in anything and it doesnt change the taste so in cake it should be fine

A cute Idea for a layer cake is after it is done baking, and has cooled, is to mix food color with a little water, so they aren't so concentrated. And then on each cake layer just use a spoon to splash random patterns on the cake. It will look like tye dye when you cut the cake. The food coloring makes the cake a little fragile, so be careful when you are moving it to frost it.

Food coloring will do nothing except change the color.

Sure, you can add food coloring. It will not alter the taste at all. You will get a lighter shade of blue or green. Don't expect it to be a vibrant color. If you're doing a cake that adds a box of instant pudding mix- you can try the instant pistachio pudding mix. I think it adds a good flavor and you'll have a pastel green cake.

I find that colouring the actual batter of the cake makes it taste a little off, but if you die the icing, it tastes fine. If you do colour the batter, make it a light yellow or pink otherwise people may not want to eat it. ;)

You can add coloring without any effects on the end result.

yes...for a very true color such as a deep red or blue you can put as much as 2 bottles of food coloring. If you go with that much, decrease the other liquid (water) by the amount of food coloring you added.

I do this all the time.
