Frozen Fish Fillets?!
Answers: What can i do to make frozen fish fillets in to a meal? How can i 'dress' them up? I would like some more creative tasty ideas rather than just eating them on their own or in bread.
Pan fry fish fillets until done and keep warm.
Gently heat about 1/2 a cup of thickened cream. When it reaches a sauce like consistency, add in 20g butter (regular, salted)and 1 1/2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice. Continue stirring and cooking until butter is melted and the desired consistency is reached.
Switch off stove and add in a little chopped fresh cilantro or parsley and a quick grind of black pepper.
Serve immediately spooned over fish with a greek salad on the side.
ENJOY!
defrost 'em...season 'em with lemon juice and peanut butter for coupla hours..or more....
fry some red onions till golden brown...add the fish fillets in a shallow pan (make sure you use olive oil)...
add some salt n pepper to taste, chopped garlic and chopped cilantro leaves.....
(i know the peanut butter part sounds weird...but it tastes yummm)
you could also go the usual way of defrosting the fillets...and seasoning them with lemon juice, salt n pepper, garlic powder and onion powder....
grill them and pour some mushroom sauce or spicy salsa on top and serve with a cold veggie salad
You can easily turn them into fish tacos, which are eaten on the west coast of Mexico.
You need:
--Corn tortillas
--Bagged cole slaw mix (or thinly slice some fresh cabbage)
--A creamy dressing of your choice (mayo, miracle whip, ranch dressing).
--Optional: Sliced radishes, diced tomato, chopped cilantro, hot sauce, pickled jalapeno slices.
Directions: Heat your fillets/sticks as directed. Warm the tortillas in a microwave, for about 40 seconds (don't overwarm them or they'll turn into frisbees).
Put your fillets or sticks in a folded tortilla, top with shredded cabbage, sauce, and whatever else you want.
An excellent easy side dish is frozen corn boiled for 4 mins with a diced small zucchini (optional) and 1/2 of a red or green bell pepper. Season to taste with salt and pepper. A traditional Mexican way of serving this would be with butter and grated sharp cheese on top.
The traditional Mexican version of this recipe is a small fish fillet, breaded and fried, served in a corn tortilla with shredded cabbage and a creamy sauce (typically equal parts of mayo and sour cream). Other things are added as desired.
Enjoy!
