Answers: anything easy

New Orleans Doughnuts

1 pkg. Active dry yeast
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
7 cups all-purpose flour
oil for frying
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup undiluted evaporated milk
1/4 cup soft shortening
confectioner's sugar
In large bowl, sprinkle yeast over water, stir to dissolve. Add sugar, salt, eggs and milk. Blend with rotary beater. Add 4 cups of the flour; beat smooth. Add shortening; beat in remaining flour. Cover and chill overnight. Roll out on floured board to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into 2 1/2-inch squares. Deep fry at 360 degrees 2 to 3 minutes or until lightly browned on each side. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle heavily with confectioner's sugar. Makes about 5 dozen. Dough keeps well in refrigerator for several days. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and punch down occasionally.

Good luck!

2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted before measuring
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons vinegar and enough regular milk to make 1/2 cup

Into a bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg; beat well. Stir in vanilla.
Add combined vinegar and milk alternately with dry ingredients; stir just until well blended.

Roll small quantities of the dough at a time, to about 1/3-inch thick. Cut doughnuts with a 2 1/2-inch cutter and let stand for about 10 minutes. Fry in hot fat at about 365° to a nice golden brown. Turn once. Fry only 3 or 4 batches at a time to keep fat from cooling down. Drain on paper towels. Makes about 18 doughnuts.

when i was a kid, we made donuts out of can biscuits.

Take the biscuit and make a hole in the middle of it to look like a donut. Then deep fry it to a nice golden brown.

Then to make the icing, take powdered sugar and add water to it. You can even add food coloring to make the icing a pretty color.

These are tasty!

buiscuits - grands flaky deep fry AWESOME!!!! i put cream cheese and whatever type of preserves fancy my guests. BIG HIT!
