How can I make my veggies fresher for longer?!

Question: I just bought a bunch of salad mixes, some green peppers, celery, apples, carrots, and brocolli. How can I make this stuff last longer?
Can any of it be frozen? Does it stay fresher in zip-lock bags, or in plastic containers with a lid?

Thanks.

I take papertowels, wet them fold the veggies in it and then put it in a zip lock bag. Keep in the crisper (if any) of the refrigerator. They last several weeks. Check once in a while if the papertowel is still wet enough.

the bag by reynolds you take the air out of

definitely freeze it. it will definitely stay good. hmm probably plastic containers, or better yet bags IN plastic containers lol
but watch out for the peppers they dont freeze so well for too long..

have u tried the green bags look it up they say it keeps them fresher longer.

Have a meal menu in mind whenyou buy them and use them up quickly. I never buy more fresh veggies than we can eat in a 3-4 day period. (the only exceptiosn being carrots, spanish onions, and potatoes, b/c they all last longer).

There is a bag called the green bag that is supposed to extend the life of veggies and fruits, however, the best thing would be a vacuuming system such as the food saver.

Store all in plastic bags in the veggie drawer of your fridge. The apples and carrots will last several weeks. The celery and peppers will probably last 2 weeks or more. Broccoli may last 10 days or longer, depending on how fresh it is.

The salad mix should be the first thing you eat. It doesn't last long and there's nothing you can do to help.

If the carrots have their tops, remove them (they drain the root).

To make your salad mixes last longer, put them in a plastic container and cover them with water. Keeping the lettuce in water will help them last twice as long as just storing them in a plastic bag.

Most of the items you listed can not be frozen if you want to use them on salads or eat them raw. However, if you are going to cook with them in various recipes, the green peppers, carrots, and brocolli can easily be frozen.
