Do you have an idea for smoked sausage?!
Answers: I took some smoked sausage out for dinner tonight. Can you give me an idea of something different to do with it other than just frying it? Also what sides would you suggest to serve with it? Thanks
We usually BBQ it on the grill .... Oven-fried potato wedges are good, with a green salad ... strawberries & pineapple pieces ....

Jambalaya
Simmer it in Marinara sauce, serve with Penne Pasta
Bert
chop it up and mix it in with noodles.
Add it to some sphagetti sauce and spread over angel hair pasta or any kind of noodles or make sausage jambalaya w/yellow rice.
I like to score (make slits in the top) of my rope sausage with a sharp knife (or cut it into quarters) and put it in a small pan and pour a mixture of
1/2 cup apricot or peach jam/preserves mixed with a couple tablespoons of Dijon mustard.......Cover with foil and bake in a 350 F oven for about 30-40 minutes.......Enjoy!!
Another good way (if you like it) is to get a jar of refrigerated sauerkraut and place it in a buttered baking dish and place the quartered sausages on the bed of kraut, cover and bake as directed above.....
Oh, and the sides: Mac and Cheese, I know it sounds cliche, but it goes so well with smoked sausage......

My mom would fry the sausage then add maple syrup, it sounds weird but give it a try.
Otherwise I love this recipe for smoked sausage with green beans and potatoes. It's kind of like a thick soup, or casserole.
Cube 3-4 potatoes and boil until soft, drain.
Cut the sausage into bite sized pieces, and brown over medium heat in a stock pot.
Add 3 cups of chicken stock and 1 cup (or more to taste) frozen green beans and the potatoes, to the sausage. Add salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for 30 mins.
In a small sauce pan melt 2 Tbs. butter and add 2 Tbs flour and stir constantly for 2 mins to make a roux.
Add the roux to the rest of the mixture, stirring to avoid lumps.
Add 1 cup milk and simmer (don't boil!)
You can also add a cup of cheddar cheese to make it richer.
chop up some onion and saute it in butter, evvo..whatever U like...chop up some cabbage and then add the onions to a large pot filled half with water or chicken stock, add cabbage, add sausage..and a half a pat...again..what u prefer of butter to the pot to soften and add flavor to the cabbage....u can also add crushed red pepper and garlic powder as well.

Smoked sausage! That's right. In a hot skillet with sauerkraut.
mix into a casserole with boxed au gratin potatoes, prepare potatoes as called for on box, thinly slice the sausage and add to potatoes, bake according to package directions. serve with salad and breadsticks.
