Why not make onion soup? Presumably all the properties go into the soup Bon Appetit!

According to this site, "Microwave cooking without water better retains flavonoids and ascorbic acid. Frying does not affect flavonoid intake. The boiling of onion leads to about 30% loss of quercetin glycosides, which transfers to the boiling water."

Do not overcook. Saute until crisp-tender or roast along with potatoes around a piece of beef, pork or lamb or poultry in the oven. Microwave whole or in halves, topped with butter and crumbs. Cook whole in beef broth, untl tender.

Slice and fry, add a little water and a stock cube and reduce.
You will have a lovely sauce to have with Beef, Chicken or Vegetables, depend upon the stock cube you use.
I will often quarter and steam them with other veggies.
