If I'm baking a frozen pork chop without defrosting first, how long does it need to cook for?!
Answers: I plan to put sear the outsides first, then bake it in a glass dish with some sauce made from grilled onions, apple juice and soy sauce. My baking instructions are for thawed chops, so I'm not sure how long to cook frozen ones for! Thanks :)
Hi lc_sar,
I wouldn't recommend it as you will probably burn the outside
before the inside is cooked if you do manage it ie: slow cook
it will end up to dry

I would ad Aprox 20-30 minute extra cooking time. I am a cook in a nursing home.
I don't know, but I'm pretty sure it won't taste as good if you don't defrost it first. Pretty sure.
till the internal temp is 165...4 minutes for every ounce of meat
In a 375 degree oven about 45 minutes to 1 hour... I
I think Pork is the only meat you should thoroughly defrost before cooking.
when the internal temp is 170,, it is safe to eat.. END OF STORY. You wonnt be able to rely onn the color of the meat,, because sometimes frozen meat will still be pink in the middle after it has been cooked. 30 minutes for a frozen 3 / 4 in pork chop in a 425 degree oven should do it. I cook frozen meat ALL the time....Just cooked half a dozen wings in Teryaki sauce. The meat fell off the bones after 45 mins.
you can thaw in the microwave first. most newer microwaves have the setting for thawing meat.
When roasting frozen meat, poultry or fish in an oven, lower the temperature by 25 degrees and increase the roasting time by half. Use a meat thermometer to check the degree of doneness of larger cuts. Insert the thermometer after the meat has partially defrosted.
Also, since it is not going to be thawed, despite your searing it, you will have extra fluid to contend with.
Keep poking it with a fork..when it is not bloody, its ready--it will probably be from 10-20 minutes extra..Keep a close eye on it..
