I need ideas on what kind of cake to make?!
Answers: Please help! I am getting rather good at baking now but I would like a cake that isn't too hard. Maybe beginner to intermediate level baking skills. Something that doesn't require me to be in the kitchen all day. Your ideas and recipes would be much appreciated! Thank you so much! ( ;

Fuzzy Navel Upsidedown Cake
Ingredients
Cake
1/2 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
1 (29-ounce) can sliced peaches, drained
8 Maraschino cherries (halved)
1 yellow cake mix with pudding (18-ounces)
1 (3-ounce) pkg. vanilla instant pudding mix
3/4 cup orange juice
1/2 cup oil
1/4 cup peach schnapps
1 tbsp grated orange peel
4 eggs
Sauce
2 tbsp melted butter
2 tbsp peach schnapps
1/8 tsp cinnamon
Topping
1 cup whipping cream OR 1 large tub Cool Whip
1 tsp confectioner's sugar
2 tbsp peach schnapps
Instructions
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
To make the cake:
Grease and flour a 12-cup fluted tube pan and sprinkle the brown sugar evenly in the bottom. Arrange the peach halves in the grooves of the pan on top of the brown sugar and then place the cherry halves between the peaches.
In a large mixing bowl, mix all of the CAKE ingredients and mix at low speed until moistened, then at high speed for 2 minutes. Pour the batter into the pan over the fruit and bake in pre-heated oven for 50 to 65 minutes or until wooden pick comes out clean. (Cake crust may become very dark so if necessary cover cake loosely with foil.) Cool for at least 15 minutes and remove from pan.
To make the sauce:
In a small bowl combine all of the SAUCE ingredients and mix until well blended. Then with a long tined fork CAREFULLY pierce the top of the cake between the peaches and spoon the sauce over the top of the cake.
To make the topping:
In yet another small bowl, combine all of the ingredients (Cool Whip may be substituted for whipping cream) mix well until soft peaks form. Serve over the cake (preferably warm, but cool is not bad either).
Trust me, sounds more difficult than it is
make a regular cake, and then put chocolate frosting on top of it. then put some sprinkles on.

How about a jello cake with whipped cream frosting? It is a regular white cake mix baked. Allow to cool. Poke holes approx an inch apart all over the cake. Make a package of jello according to the quick set directions and pour into the holes. Cool the cake in the fridge for approximately 2 hours. To make the frosting you will need 1 pkg instant vanilla pudding mix, 1 packet of dream whip - whipped topping mix, 1 1/2 cups of cold milk and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix well with an electric mixer until nice and fuffy. Top the cold cake, chill until ready to serve. This will be a very moist, creamy cake that everyone will love.
Some ideas are:
Devils Food cake
Angel Food cake
Pineapple Upsidedown cake
Pound cake
And those are very easy to get recipees for, just look them up on google. All of those also are for people who have some baking experience, and want to progress. Not much time spent in the kitchen at all.
This is not really a cake, so much as it is a dessert, so, depending on what you are making this for, it might not be something you would like to use, but, the good part is, you dont have to bake it!!! -- It must be made at least 24 hours in advance -- It is called an Eclair Dessert.
You need a box of honey graham crackers (maybe 2, depending on pan size), 2 packages of french vanilla instant pudding (you could use other flavors if you like, but, i think this is the best), 2 cups of milk, a large container of cool-whip, and 1 container of chocolate frosting (you can make your own chocolate frosting if you want, but, it will be more time consuming, and i know they were selling heat and pour icing for a while, i believe it was Betty Crocker, but, i could be wrong, and i am not sure if they still sell it).
Mix Pudding and Milk in large bowl. Fold in whipped cream.
In a cake pan (13x9, 9x9, etc), place a layer of graham crackers (they should fit fairly well.... some 13x9 pans are more difficult to fit to edges). Than, layer half of pudding mixture over graham crackers. Place another layer of graham crackers over pudding mixture and spread remaining pudding mixture on top of that. Layer one more layer of graham crackers on top.
Take chocolate icing and microwave for a few seconds, until icing is fairy runny (this will help you spread it) - you might want to add a little milk, but you don't have to. Pour icing on top of graham crackers, and spread over, edge-to-edge.
Refridgerate for about 24 hours, so that graham crackers become soft.
I recently made a cake that was so easy but was a big hit. Take an angel food cake and split into three layers. On the first layer , place a layer of softened strawberry ice cream and chopped strawberries. On the next layer, place chocolate ice cream and shaved chocolate ( from Hershey;s bar). The last layer is vanilla ice cream with well drained pineapple chunks.
Replace the top of the cake and freeze. Thirty minutes before serving , remove from freezer and frost with Cool Whip.
local store has good cakes.....and info. ask them.......
