Can you thin gel colors for icing with water in order to paint with it?!

Question: I've started cake decorating with fondant and my next cake is going to be a pizza. I want to paint the white fondant but all I have are gel colors that are used with icing.

I own a bakery and we mix our gel colors with almond extract when painting. The alcohol in the extract evaporates and takes most of the moisture in the gel color with it, this way the colors dry. Good luck.

You can add it to egg white and paint with it.But not water.
I think I use to also use karo syrup and the coloring....

Make a really watery icing.

EDIT: If I could vote, I'd vote for Wade S. there. It makes sense.
