Do you like "meatloaf"? Should it have gravy?!

Question: I make lipton onion soup meatloaf (using the lipton soup recipe) and it doesn't NEED gravy, but we usually make up some using another envelope of soup, to put on the potatoes. But whenever my husband makes HIS meatloaf, it MUST have gravy (it's dry and a bit less tasty).

Yeah, and classically, with mashed potatoes and green peas.

Yes, I love meat loaf, and it should either have some kind of ketchupy or BBQ topping or brown gravy, but not both

I love meatloaf. I always make a tomato based sauce to put on top of it. That is so great. Then I make mashed potatoes with gravy. That is a great meal.

no i like it with ketchup~!

Just go ahead and put gravy on everything you eat, 'mmkay?
haha.
:)

I like a good meatloaf. I don't need gravy. I make mine with tomato sauce on top and in the loaf.

MMM. Meat loaf (that gets a little crispy on top), sliced and topped with mushroom gravy and a nice scoop of mashed potatoes too!

I don't make gravy with meatloaf - I do tomato sauce on top of it. It's one of my favorite meals.

i love gravy with most things but meatloaf really calls for a great homemade tomato sauce.
finely slice 3 cloves garlic, 1 onion sautee till soft, add 1 tin tomatoes, roughly tear or chop handful of basil, stir through tomato sauce, season to taste. easy as, use on lots of different dishes.

I love meat loaf...I found a sauce and I used it on my last one...

2 T oil
1 T diced Green peppers
1T diced onion
1/2 Cup Ketchup
2 T Worcestershire sauce
1 T brown sugar
2 t salt
2 tsp paprika
1/2 t dry mustard
1 cup water

heat your oil over low heat..and add G peppers and onions cook until onions are golden brown...
combine remaining ingredients and add to onions and peppers....bring to a boil and reduce....pour over meat loaf the last 20 mins.

I like it with brown onion gravy, with heaps of onions.

Check out some of these recipes and you will see where the "gravy" comes from:

Meatloaf is great! I modified my meatloaf and substituted the regular tomato paste/sauce with rotel. OMG it's so awesome. Just mix the meatloaf as normal and add half the can of rotel in with the meat mixture and save the other half to go on top of it. Once it's done place the left over rotel on top to heat about 15 minutes before you take it out of the oven to serve.
Also, try steak sauce as a sub for the tomato paste/sauce. The variations are endless depending on your taste.
As far as the gravy goes, make a packet of brown gravy for your potatoes and don't drown the meatloaf in it.
Also, if you don't want regular old potatoes, try making sweet potatoes like you do the regular ones with a side of broccoli.
It's a switch on the old and gives you another way to kick up an otherwise bland meal.

I'm with SUE I love Lipton's onion soup meatloaf with liptons onion soup roast potatoes and gravy with salad or beans on the side but I use chicken and pork instead of beef I like beef but I find its hard on my stomach

nope....
i am vegan.
