Does anyone know of a recipe for making play dough?!
Answers: The kids really want play dough and I have no problem with them playing with the stuff, but when the stores want $3.00 for just one jar of it, I cannot see buying it for them. I would really like to be able to make some of it at home and then add food coloring to make a few different colors. So, got any recipes for me?
4 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 ? cups water
Food colouring.
Just mix up the flour, salt and water till it forms the dough/clay and add the colouring.
Follow Anjali's recipe. She has given the right one.
I use the same recipe above, but I leave the food coloring to the kids.. and the kneading part
I seperate it into 4 bowls.. drop a bit of "different" food coloring into each bowl. and give a bowl to each kid.. They love kneading the heck out of it till the color comes consistant.. (I used this as a babysitter for my 2yr old when I needed a good 15 min down time).. I sat her in the floor on an old blanket, gave her the bowl and she would sit and work that stuff for a good 15-20 min.. and believe me.. any mother knows any amount of free time is GOLDEN... of course give them the old cookie cutters, rolling pins.. plastic stuff of course and they are good to go..
This is from the arm and hammer website:
2 cups baking soda
1 cup corn starch
1 1/4 cups cold water
food colouring
Stir all together in a saucepan and cook over medium heat stirring constantly, until it reaches the consistency of mashed potatoes.
Remove from heat and place on a dish with a damp paper towel to keep it moist until its cool enough to play with. You can leave finished crafts to dry hard overnight.
Its great because its non-toxic and inexpensive.
