How to Cook and Buy Beef Heart and Tongue?!
So I went to the grocery store (Rainbow Foods) and the meat guy just looked at me weird when I asked if they had it.
So I just got chicken gizzards and heart. (Which where good but you know not quite strange)
People have told me that grocery stores do sell that kind of stuff... Has anyone else seen it?
So my question is where do i get it?
Also How would I cook it? (I have been told just boil it) is that true?
Also does anyone else know of anything strange i can try? I would love to try any strange food...
Answers: Ever since I was little I have always wanted to try different foods... like on survivor...But my mom was real finicky. But now I'm in college and want to try it. I figured the strangest thing I could find in America would be cow Heart and Tongue. (But I would love to try brain or anything else)

A good butcher shop can provide you with beef heart or toungue. I've never eaten beef heart. It seems like it'd be very chewy. Toungue has to be simmered at a very slow boil in broth with some spices and herbs. I'd suggest onions and garlic with some thyme. Then peeled and then it can be eaten hot or cold just as you would roast beef. it is quite tender and tasty. Ther is no way to cook it medium rare though it is like a pot roast. I like it with horseradish sauce or in sandwiches. try an Asian food store for the truly unusual foods.
i'm sorry but ewwwwwwwww
I heard that cows heart tastes just like roast beef!
Why don't you ask the butcher where you shop if he can get you a beef heart and tongue. I have seen them around here and there but they are often not a thing a supermarket would carry. You'd probably have more luck in a butcher shop. I have not cooked beef heart myself but I have eaten it and it is just like really good pot roast.
