When cooking beef stew is there a particular sequence for adding ingredients?!

Question: Some of the ingredients take longer than others to cook. First, I cut the beef into cubes, roll them in flour, then brown them in hot oil and saute the onions with the beef cubes. Then I add the water and seasonings, heat it to boiling; reduce the heat to simmer and let it simmer an hour or two. Then I add the potatoes, carrots (and any other root veggies like turnips), and the herbs and simmer it another hour or two. Then I add the corn, green beans, peas, and tomatoes and simmer it another half hour.

i usually saute` the cubes over high heat with some onions for only a minute or two , just to get some dark crispy sections on it. throw it in a crock pot . put about a half a cup of water in the pan and deglaze ( scape the lil burnt bits off the bottom . when this is done , dump water in crock pot and then add all the rest of your ingredients . cook on low for 12 hours or so . till beef is fork tender .fork will slide in very easily .

Saute onions first until they are glazed and soft.
Broil beef chunks separately with a table spoon of olive oil in a pot on hot plate until outside of meat gets roasted (caramelized) and blood color is gone, stirr frequently for uniformness. Add water or broth. Then add all the other ingredients with the onions and let simmer as specified.
