How to season fish?!

Question: I have a basa fillet I'd like to grill, but I'm low on seasonings, and my boyfriend has asked for something that's 'not asian.' This is what I have:
- curry powder
- onion powder
- garlic
- ginger
- sesame oil
- orange juice
- lemon juice
- pepper
- italian seasoning
- red pepper
- honey
- parsley
- mint
- soy sauce
- mushrooms
- mushroom broth

Plus the usual pantry stuff, i.e. sugar, butter. Any ideas?

I usually check my salad dressings when I want something different. Do you have onions and tomatoes - add a slice of each on top when you grill. I have seasoned with italian seasoning. Hope this helps and enjoy!!

Lightly season with the garlic, lemon juice, and salt/pepper. In a pan, spray with nonstick spray, then melt a couple tablespoons of butter over med to med-high heat (you can judge by your pans and stove, but you don't want to burn your fish). Cook fish about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip for a couple more minutes. Squeeze a little lemon juice and your done.
I really suggest keeping a bottle of Old Bay seasoning in your spice rack too. Awesome stuff!

Lemon juce,salt,pepper,onion powder,garlic,and red pepper

Actually you can use any of them to season fish. I'd steer away from curry, mint or mushrooms. You might try Italian dressing, we use it for mild white fish and its great, just don't overcook it, just a few minutes on each side and its done.

Try what appeals to you, I like a very mild, spice but you never know what you can come up with. Teriyaki Fish sounds kind of interesting, some soy sauce, a little sesame oil and a touch of ginger.

Are you baking it, pan frying or barbequing it? If you are pan frying, you can't beat an old fashioned cast iron pan . .

Good luck

just brush with some butter / salt flip /butter /salt and a squeeze of lemon why torture such a wonderful fish??? with all that other stuff...........

My husband loves when I use tinfoil to make a packet, put the fish inside with butter, fresh ground pepper, a small amount--like 1/8 cup each packet- of orange juice, or pinapple orange juice, and just a pinch..and I mean just a small pinch, on top of the fish, of mint. If you have fresh mint leaves, use a knife to dice the leaf up really little and sprinle on top. Cook in oven, or on grill, for 20 min or so, depending on your oven. At least til fish is really flaky.

bake it in butter, with a little garlic powder and onion powder on top. Be sure to salt and pepper the fillets first, good eats.

do blackened fish
melt butter, get pan super hot almost smoking
add some lime juice & cilantro
