Where can I find chicken bones or what to substitute with?!

Question: A chicken broth receipe says that I need 5 lbs of chicken bones. My grocery store didn't have any. Where can I find chicken bones or what would be the next best part I could use to replace the bones?

I've never seen chicken BONES sold in a store anywhere ... Buy some chicken pieces, or just a whole fryer, and boil it up. You can always use the chicken in casseroles or chicken salad later.......

Just buy the broth or make your own by boiling a few thighs or legs.

ask the butcher for back bones........or but whole chickens bake and debone; you can use the meat for stews, casseroles, or salads
the best of both worlds

if you are not making it from scratch with the bones, use the chicken boullion cubes.

I used to see frozen bags of either wings or legs with the backbone attached. They were 10 # bags, and really cheap. Don't know if you can still get them, but it's worth a look.

The other thing is that you can buy breasts, and skin/de-bone them. Freeze the bones and use in your next batch of broth.

Our shops sell chicken frames in the deli section.
You could just use chicken portions.
