Can Grits make us fat?!


Question: i suddenly feel a little hungry at night and i eat grits about 400 ml ( including milk 0,1% fat). Will i get fat because of that?

actually grits are very good for you. just use water instead of milk or use skim milk. it's what you put in the grits that's fattening

the extra calories at night could do you in. Best thing is to balance out the total calories you eat throughout the day to makeup for the late night snack or exercise a little more to offset it.

any food makes u fat duh! and grits is basically like rice so it turns to sugar and if u eat them plain it takes off calories but to eat them plain is just nasty

Unless you are the person with the slowest metabolism in the world or are anorexic, there is no way a teensy bit of milk could make you fat.

i dont think so.moreover it also depends on ur genes, whether u have a tendency to gain wait easily or not.if not, i guess there is no reason at all for u to worry.If yes, still i think grits shun make u fat, though better be careful.

I would think so, because grits are made out of corn, and corn is full of sugar, which is fattening.

I don't think you will get fat. But, you might not lose weight. If it doesn't have butter or sugar than you should be OK. If you are putting sugar in it then try a sugar substitute.

idk, but i'm southern and i looooove grits! nuthin can keep me away from em! I add eggs and ketchup and salt and pepper. I don't care if it makes me fat, its gooooood. lol. I've been eating grits for 13 years and i'm skinny, you've got nothing to worry about.

Grits are like empty calories. I buy this 'Polenta Corn Grits' by Bob Red Mill. They are tastier and healthier. You can find them at Whole Foods Market, Publix, maybe any store that sells organic groceries. I like carbs at night too, although popcorn is my vice. Rice cakes may be a different and lowfat alternative.
