This is probably the most common question on Yahoo Answers. You will always get a hundred different answers.

I use the "Martha Stewart" method and it never fails me. I boil eggs at least once a week. And best of all, they look nice (no green yolks!).

All you do is take a small sauce pan (larger, if you need to do more eggs). Place the eggs in the empty sauce pan and make sure there is space between them....don't over-crowd them.

Now add cold water to the pan so that the water is about an inch above the eggs.

Cover the saucepan and turn the heat to high/medium-high. I set the timer for 10 minutes so I don't forget about them! In about 10 minutes, they should come to a boil....once they are at a rolling boil, turn off the heat immediately and leave the saucepan on the hot burner, covered. Set the timer for 10 more minutes.

After the timer goes off, take the saucepan of eggs and run cold water over them in the sink. I also take handfuls of ice and put them in to cool off the eggs as quickly as possible so they stop cooking. In about 5 minutes they should be cool enough to peel and eat.

Enjoy the perfect boiled egg!
Total time: about 20-25 minutes from start to finish.

put the eggs in water bring to a boil and immediately take off the heat...let sit in the pot covered for 20 min then run cool water over them

Eggs are a rich source of protein and vitamins and are generally healthy to eat, unless you have a high cholesterol level. You can eat eggs raw, boiled or cooked in a pan as scrambled eggs or an omelet. Boiling eggs is one of the easiest ways to prepare them; this eHow will provide instructions on how to boil an egg in six simple steps.

Step 1:
Place the raw egg in a saucepan.

Step 2:
Run cold water into the saucepan until the water is 1 inch above the egg.

Step 3:
Place the saucepan on a stove and cook over medium heat until the water begins to boil.

Step 4:
Reduce the heat to low.

Step 5:
Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 10 to 15 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.

Step 6:
Remove the egg with a spoon or ladle and let it cool slowly, or run cold water over it to cool it more quickly.

It's pretty much about the timing ...don't boil it to long!
Best luck!

PS. I'll give you a tips of how to peel a boiled egg ^.^
After all the boiling steps, Let the eggs sit in the cold water. When it's not to hot to touch, take an egg in your hand, smash it gently on the table, roll it back and forth like a rolling pin. Just the shell will be cracked. Now you can peel it. You can try peeling the shell in the water or just let it touched the water after you smashed and rolled it. I always do my boiled eggs like this and it came out pretty :D

Boiling an egg - for the experienced.
Once you've mastered the above recipes, try this:

Poached egg:
Bring ? litre (1 pint) of water to a boil with ? decilitre (1,75 fl. oz) vinegar. The vinegar will help the egg stay together.
Reduce the heat.

Crack an egg into a meassuing-cup (a 1 decilitre or 1/3-cup meassure should be big enough). Gently "plop" the egg in the water. Boil for 2 - 3 minutes for a soft yolk (depending on the size of the egg).

Place eggs in cold water in pan on stove. Bring to a boil, then turn off heat & cover pan with a lid for at least 15 minutes or so.......Run under ice cold water before peeling. Works every time!
