I bought like 10 packages of velvita shells and cheese but its the store brand. But the store brand taste different from the reg. brand. Is there anything i can add to make it taste a little better? basically, you can add just about anything to it. if ti's the funky aftertaste you're worried about, try a splash of beer while it's still cooking (obviously, you need to be over 21 for that). I'd say experiment - I know that BBQ sauce also works with cheddar flavor fairly well, but I'd say start with a tiny bit on a spoon before you start pouring it into an entire batch.
I'm a bit confused on your definition of "spicy", though - do you mean hot, like pepper? Or did you mean garlic & onion type stuff? Garlic powder is usually easier on the digestive tract than fresh, though obviously your results may vary.

I use boxed mac/cheese and make a tuna noodle cassarole.. I add drained can tuna, onions and peas and crush some potato chips on top... bake and eat..

You can also add broccolli or grilled chicken....

good luck

Yes, add some polish sausage. It makes a really good one pot meal. Enjoy

Try adding mild salsa. Warning - it will look really gross, but it will taste YUMMMM!

There's not really anything you can to match the taste of the more expensive brands, it is what it is. You can add other things to it to make it taste better, add sliced hotdogs, chopped broccoli, kielbasa, etc. Slice the kielbasa or hotdogs and put it in the water before it comes to a boil, then add your macaroni and follow the rest of the directions. Same with the broccoli. A good addition would also be to fry up some hamburger, drain it. Add your ingredients for the cheese sauce to that along with some diced tomatoes. Add the cooked macaroni, stir and enjoy.

Add some Velveeta to it, if you want it plain.
Add some chicken, taco meat, tuna, sausage, ham..

you can put just about any kind of meat in it to help it, ham, hamburger, bacon bits, smoked sausage, tuna...etc. However what if you don't have meat... then it's a seasoning thing! If you REALLY are a college student you will have a Raman noodle some where. take out the seasoning packet and stir it up in your mac-n-cheese. Seasoned salt works wonders too. ;)

Me, I just add ketchup after it's cooked. Sounds and looks terrible, but it's yummy.

try something no one else mentioned real cheddar cheese buy it shredded and mix it in while it is still hot

From your question, it doesn't sound to me like you want to add a bunch of different ingredients, but just improve the taste, right? If that is the case, you can try using different types of milk or milk products (whole milk, cream, half & half, evaporated milk, etc.) to see which one gives it the best flavor. The more fat in the milk, the richer the flavor will be. (Of course, this also means it will be higher in calories and fat.) You can also improve the flavor by adding some shredded cheese (cheddar or whichever type you think would work best) or melt some extra Velveeta and add that to your mac and cheese.

Are you in a dorm or apartment? If you're in an apartment and have a stove/oven and freezer, why not experiment with some homemade macaroni and cheese recipes? You can freeze leftovers in portions for future use. Mac and cheese is not a difficult thing to make, so it would be a good way to practice your cooking skills. My favorite mac and cheese recipe is linked in Sources. I've been making it for about 5 years and it is wonderful! The recipe does make a lot, so invite all your friends over for dinner or be prepared to freeze the leftovers (I've done this several times in the past and it does freeze well. Sometimes I add some extra milk/half and half to the reheated portions to restore the creamy consistency.)

Happy Cooking!
