How do I get Panko bread crumbs to stick to the fish filets that I'm frying? Thanx!?!
Answers: ,baby, it's on the back of the Panko breading pkg. wet fish with water, coat in flour, coat in egg, coat in Panko...helpful hint. after coating let set up in fridge for at least 1/2 hour to guarantee no fall off
dip the fish filets in milk or an egg/milk mixture. Then dredge them in breadcrumbs
Dip the fish in a beaten egg first, then the crumbs.
I do this dip
dip it in flour first
then into an egg beaten with some milk
then into the panko
fry up!
You need to dip it in egg first. Mix up a couple of eggs like your going to scramble them then dip the fish and get it thoroughly coated then you can coat it in the panko. Sometimes you have it kind of press the panko into it to really get it to stick good! Try this with clam strips also, This is so yummy! Happy cooking! :)
1. Make sure your fish filets are dry.
2. Dredge the dry fish through flour.
3. Dip in an egg wash (beaten eggs)
4. Now dredge through the panko bread crumbs.
5. Optional (probably worth a try): let the fish rest on a wire rack for about 5 to 15 minutes before frying. Give it a try to see if that helps.
The reason for the resting, step 5... allows the coating time to adhere to the fish and dry a little. If you drop the fish straight away into the hot oil, the moisture will cause the coated to puff off (since steam expands) resulting in no stickage of the delicious crust to the fish. Resting reduces the moisture content just a little bit.
Take the time to do the flour step......it doesn't come out the same when you just do a wash and straight panko. Think of the flour as the primer.
